Prelude Choir (Grades K-4)

No Audition Required!

There are no auditions for the Prelude Choir – just a love of music and the desire to learn. We’re always looking for new singers and would love to meet you and your child.

About the Prelude Choir

Prelude is for children in Kindergarten – 4th grade. It is a non-auditioned choir designed to help young singers begin the road to life-long singing. Prelude Choir is perfect for children wishing to learn voice training and musical knowledge. The focus of this choir is to prepare members for eventual entry into our auditioned choirs.

Prelude Choir Goals

  • Developing music basics through the voice/body
  • Finding the singing voice
  • Developing beginning music literacy skills
  • Finding beat and rhythm competency
  • Experiencing public performances

Premiere Choir (Grades 5-8)

About the Premiere Choir

The Premiere Choir is for young students to explore, learn and perfect their singing abilities. They have a greater part in concerts and attend retreats with professional clinicians with the older Encore students. Premiere students also get invitations to perform at smaller venues in the community.

Audition Required

Auditions are required for our Premiere Choir.

Admission to this choir is based on interest, commitment, and musical ability. If your child is interested in joining us, please schedule an audition appointment.

Premiere Choir Goals

  • Continuing voice development
  • Reading choral music
  • Singing in 2 and 3 part harmony
  • Learning varied choir repertoire from many time periods and places
  • Gaining more public performance experience

No rehearsals will occur on vacation days that coincide with those of the Hillsboro School District.

Encore Choir (Grades 9-12)

About the Encore Choir

Encore students hone their skills by participating in most events and concerts. The retreats are geared towards stretching them and providing professional clinicians to help them grow as musicians.
